Approximate travel time and distance: 2 hrs 15 minutes; 118 miles.
1. Take George Washington Bridge to Palisades Interstate Parkway NORTH.
2. Go 18 miles to I-87/I-287 (Thruway). Go NORTH toward Albany.
3. After 24 miles take Exit 16, Harriman for US-6 and Rt 17; take Rt 17
WEST. (Don't be misled by earlier signs for another Rt 17; wait for Exit
16, Harriman. When you approach Exit 16 it's confusing because the exit
is just
before toll booths for those continuing on to Albany; stay to the right.)
4. Continue WEST on Rt 17 for 65 miles to Exit 96, Livingston Manor.
5. At the bottom of the ramp turn RIGHT at the T.
6. Go 0.2 mile to another T and turn LEFT.
7. Go 0.1 mile and take the first right onto Shandelee Road (you now are
in downtown metropolitan Livingston Manor!).
8. Go through town (School on right, Post Office on left) and through
the
only traffic light.
9. Continue on straight about 3 miles (mostly up steep hills) and just
after a sign for Shandelee take your next RIGHT onto Shandelee Lake Road.
10. Go to next T-intersection (0.1 mile) and turn RIGHT on Temple Road.
(Shandelee Lake is on you left as you proceed on Temple Road; all of the
property on the left is part of our beautiful 422 acres, including most
of
the lake.)
11. As you come to two forks in the road stay LEFT on Temple Road and
Waldemere Road, respectively, following the sign for 137 Waldemere at
the second fork. (From the first fork, we own all the land on both sides
of the road. The stream with the little waterfall at the second fork is
the outlet from the lake.)
12. Waldemere Road ends with our gate on the left. Drive through and make the first LEFT at the Parliament of World Peace sign. Follow the road all the way around the buildings. The entrance you should use is facing the lake. Drive up to the entrance and bring in your luggage, or walk in and ask for help with your luggage.
